Ulladulla & District Adult Riders Club
was formed in 1986 by; John & Janice Henney their daughter Caroline
now known as Caroline Herron, Marion and her mother Jean Gardiner, Marion
is now know as Marion Hatwell, Rebecca McLaren and Aileen Wilson. The
first meeting was held at The Henneys farm in Milton in attendance
was John, Janice & Caroline Henney, Marion & Jean Gardiner, George & Doreen
McCoy, Aileen Wilson & Rebecca McLaren.
The club was originally formed for older riders who wanted to get back
into the saddle and wanted to have fun and also for children who could not
go away to compete through different circumstances. The very first event
was a practice/training day held at John & Janice Henneys farm Wilfords Lane Milton
which was very well attended and the first jump instructor was Mr Neville Higgins
formerly of our CRT Country store in Milton.
Today our club has over 100 members and is known as Ulladulla & District
Riders Club. Our different events or competitions such as jumping, dressage,
sporting, Hacking and training days are held once a month at Milton Showground
in Croobyar Road, Milton and are always very well attended by not just
locals but many from Sydney in the north to Moruya in the south.
Our club is about learning how to compete with the right attitude, having respect
for other competitors and giving everyone a chance to do their best, whether they
are competing, judging or assisting with the day.
The club is run under the EFA and their Code of Conduct must be adhered to.
Our committee today is;
Mandy Merrett - PRESIDENT John Wilson - Vice President Rebecca McLaren - Treasurer
Gina Woodhouse - Secretary Gaye Ellis - Assistant Secretary Mandy Merrett - Showground Management Representative John Wilson - Grounds & Equipment Management. Last but not at all least is the members who participate & do a great job.
